| Show the jennie group the jennie group nes on the west side of the pikes diggings country adjoining the fay district between the independence and the big snowflake group it is owned by the jennie gold mining company of which F R davis is president C A short vice president W W barton secretary while A E short and E drake with the the above complete the directorate surrounded by a bunch of promising properties in the very center of a rich mineral belt one would expect that the jennie group would not be barren of ledges and values but should hold its own with the best of them and it does on every claim of the nine that compose the group proper can be found ledges some small some large that carry values varying from to 68 in gold while sox some pa samples have been taken that have been phenomenally rich the best values thus far have been taken on the jennie M and frye claims where most of the development work has been done on the former is a tunnel which has been run in a distance of 70 feet fol following owing an 18 inch vein which at different places has yielded from 8 to 68 in gold at the face of the drift is a 10 foot crosscut cross cut which cuts three feet of ore that runs starting on the frye ground fifty feet below vertically ti is another tunnel which has followed the vein for a distance of feet it varies from six inches to three f feet in width and from 4 to 34 in value the latter vein is not the same as found in the upper tunnel but a parallel vein about feet east of the lower tunnel is still another vein on the frye no 2 claim which runs parallel with the two last mentioned and is of the same size and equal values on the surface there are several smaller veins to the west which can be cut from the lower tunnel the ore from the jennie and the frye resembles the ore from the now famous johnny mine in the same district and the formation is very similar the latter is a soft porphyry heavily stained with iron and can be worked at a less cost than any other mine in the district on the midas claim north of the frye is a vein two and a half feet wide which sampled by an expert sample this is in the center of the claim and should be found on the frye ground to the south the midas no 3 claim west of the frye has ten feet of ore that goes on the surface while the midas no 2 has numerous ledges which have not yet been developed ve loped on the comstock property about seventy five feet from the side line of the midas no 2 is a four foot ledge which goes 8 in gold this ledge will be found on the midas no 2 on the maud maud fractions and dewey claim are several veins which have given assays essays from to 12 in gold but little work has been done on them but it is safe to say that development will prove them valuable claims on the dewey claim the company owns a good four room log cabin and nearby a good well which yields an abundance of water during the coming year this property will be developed on a large scale and a small mill is among the possibilities of the near future |
