Show RAY consolidated boston news letter in the operations which have been conducted up to the present time at ray consolidated soli dated several important and far reach ing results have been obtained which have a direct bearing on earning power these are a lower cost of mining than that used heretofore in all calculations the manner in iii which the ore is mining with no appreciable preci able diminution in grade the favorable results being obtained in extracting the values from the ore and the increased tonnage which it has been found possible to handle per unit of concentrator at the mine the caving of the ore is meeting with excellent results and the avei overburden is found to stand exceptionally well weil the ore which is now being taken from locations next to the overburden is breaking clean and is showing practically no decrease in 0 grade over that as indicated by sal pling another important point which has been demonstrated in connection with these ores is that it is possible to mine in thick slices one of the slopes being worked over a distance of more than sixty feet the at the ray property between the ore and the overburden is very pronounced and this condition facilitates maintaining the grade A most gratifying point in connection with operations at the mine has been the lower mining cost attained d over the original estimates this is a matter or great importance as it is this item which plays such an important part in the cost of producing copper at the porphyry mines the opening up of the ore bodies underground is being pushed vigorously and alid on an average of feet of headings a month are driven at the concentrator three sections are now operating and approximately 2800 tons of ore per day are being put through c the grade of the ore has varied according to the location in the mine some of the material has averaged under 2 per cent and on this or on ore of less than the average grade which is per cent an extraction of more than 70 per cent has been made on certain days at the concentrator as high as 1150 tons of ore per section has been put through and it is now confidently believed that when the entire plant has settled down and is running smoothly that the production on eight units will reach 10 oo pounds of copper per annum the concentrator construction is more rapidly advanced than the at the mine and if necessary it would be possible to complete the mill in ninety days time the fourth section will probably go into commission I 1 late ate in august the fifth in october the sixth early in november the seventh in december and the eighth shortly after the first of the year at which time the mine will be able to supply the full tonnage the si smelter nelter construction is proceeding well at hayden the foundations foundation work has been completed the stack is up and the structural steel is on the ground ayd it is expected ted that the plant will be operating by january 1st ast pending the completion of the concentrator it was the intention to send the concentrates to the A S R plant at el paso where furnaces are being erected for the handling of this product however since june the company has been sending them to the aguas calientes salientes Cali entes smelter in mexico in view of the excellent results which are being obtained at the ray mine and concentrator the management believes now that not only will an all cost per pound be realized but that this figure will be bettered when the plant is producing to capacity |
