Show 0 THE OHIO COPPER boston market reporter alfred frank chief mining engineer for foi F A heinze is spending considerable time at the ohio properties in utah and says the company is accomplishing great results resul ts while the mill building is completed it is equipped only for half the tonnage that it will handle ultimately at present it is treating 1250 to 1300 tons of ore per day when the ohio is financed the mill will be completed and the tonnage doubled the ore runs about per cent copper and the concentrates 30 per cent while the ore looks low grade compared to what butte ore runs there is an enormous difference in the cost of handling it and the large tonnage makes it an entirely different proposition mining is done by the caving system and with splendid results the companas comp anys original estimate is as to cost of mining was 70 cents per ton but mr frank flank says the mining is now being done actually under 50 cents per ton costs in may were 51 cents per ton for mining the concentrating costs run from 38 to 40 cents per ton and these costs also include all charges for management and office expenses the concentrates are being shipped to the garfield smelter of the american smelt ing refining company and are regarded as exceedingly desirable transportation from the mine to the mill is through the mascotte tunnel owned by the bingham central railway company controlled by mr heinze it is figured that there are tons of ore above the mascotte tunnel in that portion of the property that has been developed the ohio is producing at the rate of about pounds of copper yer year at some profit mr air heinzel He inzes friends believe the ohio will make good and prove to be a big mine |
