Show WORK AT BOSTON CON bingham utah press daily shipments are being made from both the sulphide and surface workings of the boston con property there is a great deal of activity on the boston con hill and the mill at garfield is taking care of all the ore A director of the company F P A schirmer of 13 boston oston made the following report after having visited the property 1 I was informed by our engineers that within ninety days we should be able to furnish our new mill with at least 2000 tons of ore a day the mill is showing a recovery of 70 per cent from our porphyry ores which we consider satisfactory at times the recovery has been as high as 75 per cent our ores have averaged 1 per cent copper which is also satisfactory the trouble has been that our ores taken from the top of the mountain where it was deemed advisable to start the steam shovel work have shown a higher percentage of iron than was originally figured upon and iron in too great a quantity is undesirable as it inflicts penalties from the amel adds to our cost and reduces the concentration cent ration of course we have quantities of ores in the lower portion of our property which do not carry the high iron percentages in fact millions of tons of ore in this section are available for extraction we will operate upon this ore until we are able to handle the iron ores in the upper sections this is as a metallurgical problem which undoubtedly easily will be solved we have already engaged a prominent metallurgist to work it out |
