It is simply the question: "Is he Intelligently honest?" If the candidate meets that require-ment he merits serious considera-tion. Such a candidate is to be found in the person of Dr. Arthur C. Wherry, who seeks the office of TJ. S. Senator. The record of his life in Salt Lake county is ample proof that Dr. Wherry is a man of highest moral integrity. That record pro-ves also that he is a thoroughly capable and well balanced execu-tive, fully competent to serve the people fairly and efficiently. Hia sound Judgment has been called into play on many oc-casions in the past, and his ad-vice has proven invaluable in accomplishing worth while bene-fits for the public. JACOBSON IS WELL LIKED The city of Salt Lake has as-sumed its place of importance in world affairs because of the ef-forts of the g business and professional men who have developed the natural resources and extended the trade advan-tages of the locality. One of the men who has taken a very active part in the progressive movement is Mr. A. 0. Jacobson, president of the Wasatch Mines, Columbia Rexall and West Toledo Mines. Mr Jacobson has devoted a great' deal of his time and ener-gy welfare of this to the general district, and it is fitting a this attempt to express time that we small way our apprecia-tion in a very for his unselfish contribu-tions to the .general welfare. Such a personality Is W. J. Korth, county clerk ot Salt Lake coun. ty. The wotk which County Clerk Korth does today may be the sub-ject of inspection by people sev-eral generations hence. There ii no more important job the coun-ty has to ofifer than that of coun-ty clerk, and Mr. Korth Is fuL filling the duties of that office so admirably that we are glad to pay him the highest tribute we can. His geriTus for organiza-tion of his staff and for enlisting their loyalty, coupled with his en-thusiastic participation in every laudable public enterprise make him an outstanding public ser-vant. Under the direction and per-sonal supervision of County Clerk Korth his department is the hub around which the actlvl. ties of all the other county de-partments revolve. He has made it his duty to serve his fellow associates promptly and efficiently and to give the public utmost value for the office it has en-trusted to him. We are more than pleased to pay this sincere compliment to County Clerk W. J. Korth and to wish for him the continued support of the people of Salt Lake county. BRILLIANT JURIST MERITS SUPPORT Judge Roger I. MeDonough, recognized for many years among his colleagues as an outstanding Jurist whose court opinions have been quoted by leading attorneys in scores of instances, is, in the minds of his constituents, more than a skilled legalist. He is known here for his insight into human emotions, which are so often as Important a considera-tion in achieving Justice as Is a strict interpretation of the letter of the law. Combining his understanding of human nature with his broad and thorough knowledge of law, Judge McDonough administers the affairs of his court in full accord with the best traditions of the American code. Under his tenure of office the dignity of the court has always been more than a passing phrase. It has given a real significance which to thinking people of thjs com-munity is of supreme value in maintaining the high purpose of our Constitution. Such a figure is Mr. Geo. M. Haley, county surveyor. He is very willing and anxious to lend his hand to every worthwhile enterprise which will bring Increased happiness and prosperity to Salt Lake county. Geo. M. Haley Is a man who first fulfills the technical re-quirement of the office he holds, and then adds immeasurably to the value of his public services by giving freely of his own time and abilities for the betterment of the people.
