Show I ASSOCIATION OF THE BLIND A very er Interesting and profitable meeting of the Western Association of the Blind was held Wednesday in the Young memorial building where the blind their friends and some visitors were assembled One important action taken was to the effect that the board of directors and all an other officers of the th organization tion be chosen from among blind per persons persons perSons sons Mrs J T J T Snider who has proved herself a valuable member and has acted in an able manner as treasurer resigned She has been elected to an Important office in the auxiliary to the reading room for the blind where she no doubt will do all in her power for forthe forthe forthe the cause The association tendered her tier a warm vote Tote of thanks and wished her ier every success In her new office A M Talmage also earnestly plead pleaded ed his resignation as secretary owing owins to urgent duties elsewhere The mem members members bers hers were loathe to grant his request Mrs Irs A S Rowan was present and spoke In behalf of several measures for the advancement of the blind Mrs Irs Rowan has taken tale a keen Interest in all an that pertains to the welfare of sight sightless sightless sightless less persons and has recently organ organized organIzed organized a large reading circle at the Pack Packard Packard Packard ard library for their advancement In addition to this she has established an auxiliary to the reading room which promises to be of inestimable value to them After some routine business the as association association elected a board of directors consisting of the following persons S SW SW SW W Jenkinson president John Fowler vice president W A Hodges secreta secrets secretary ry Marie Hansen treasurer Emmo A Ary Ar Ai ry r i Marie Hensen treasurer Emma A Riches T C Hanks Albert Talmage At the close of ot the meeting a cordial invitation was extended to all blind and their attendants to a little social given by Mrs Frances Miss Hansen and Mrs J T J T Snider at the home of the former when an an enjoyable evening was as spent The blind rendered many man good selections in music songs and oratory After refreshments all Joined in the parting song America |
