the special train of President Lovett and party at Sparks Nev Ney at 9 Friday night and the train started im immediately immediately immediately mediately eastward At Ogden yesterday upon the arrival of the special train at 1150 the party was augmented by the arrival of A L Mohler General Superintendent Charles Ware and Superintendent W M 31 Jeffers of the Union Pacific at Omaha who continued east with the head of the system the tue Salt Lake officials returning to this city Makes Brief Stop Less Loss than ten minutes were wera spent by President Lovetts special at Ogden only long enough to change engines and re receive receive receive orders During the brief stay Pres President President President ident Lovett saw no one Considerable at attention attention was paid by President Lovett to the Lucin cutoff and he be expressed him himself himself himself self as much pleased with the work in hand It Is realized by the Harriman officials that the only thing that can be bedone bedone bedone done at the cutoff Is to meet the con dUons of the lake Every precaution Is being taken to prevent against further damage but because of the thu th peculiar an antics antics antics tics of the Harriman Harrim n system such as the construction of a connection between the Southern southern route at Lordsburg in hi New Mexico to the Union Pacific by b way of Gallup or Durango thence through Colo Cola Colorado Colorado rado to connect with the line Une from Warn Wamsutter sutter to Steamboat Springs Another story which gained some credence was that the Union Pacific was preparing to build a new line Une Into Colorado Invading the territory of the Moffat MoUnt route In Routt county by constructing an extension of ot the new branch from Steamboat Springs the present terminal of the thc Moffatt line into Salt Lake from Denver by way of Provo and other Utah points parallel paralleling ing irig the proposed line Une of the Moffat road for the entire distance Joint Rates Granted It can be stated with assurance that the Harriman H officials have neither of these projects under consideration con at this time That the Harriman Interests are support supportIng Ing the Goulds in an endeavor to block the Moffat road Is vigorously denied dented as asare asare asare are many other statements which have gained circulation as a result of President President President dent Lovetts western tour One result of President Lovetts trip Jo o oLos Los Angeles was to Insure the granting of Joint rates by the Southern Pacific and the Santa Fe routes to the tha Western Pacific This action means that the Southern Pacific and the Santa Fe have agreed to a division with the hew bew Gould road on all overland shipments It can command in the country north of Bakers Bakersfield Bakersfield Bakersfield field This means that shipments to or from California points on either of the two lines may be routed via the Western Pacific system Before leaving Ogden for tor the east President
