Show COMPANY C IS MUSTERED IN Another Organization Is Added to the Utah National Guard by Officers ALFRED MILLER IS CAPTAIN NEW COMPANY IS ABOUT TO TOBE BE FORMED AT OGDEN First infantry of the na national national guard of Utah reorganized from company D was mustered into inlo service Thursday night at t the armory by Colonel H M 31 H Lund The full strength is forty men and after the muster oath was administered to the re recruits recruits the following officers were elected Alfred O 0 Miller captain Edward Pike first lieutenant H C Hicks second lieu tenant The noncommissioned officers were not selected last night but it is probable that E J Mime Milne will be chosen first sergeant and N C Hicks first duty sergeant t Captain Miller was in the guard at the time of its organization and was first sergeant of the first company organIzed Lieutenant Pike has served two enlist enlistments mEnts In the guard and Lieutenant Hicks has haJJ served the same length of time Many of the comI ans members have been in the guard before and have trans to the new organization About half its members are new recruits but It is predicted that this company will be one of the strongest in the organization Took Place of Company D Company Compan C takes the place of company compan D which went out of service about two months ago Its members are transferred to the signal corps and to the new corn com company pany Colonel Lund has been active In recruiting for the company for some time timeA timeA A dance was given three weeks ago In honor lIonor ot of the new company compan and fifteen enlIstments were secured at that time Since then enough enlistments had been secured wIth the transfer of members rem company D Thorn Thero are now seven seen companies of in infantry Infantry fantry in the tho guard besides a battery a troop of cavalry a signal corps and a hospital corps The infantI Infantry companies run in alphabetIcal order from A to H with the tho exception of G As a second company or of Infantry Is to be organized In Ogden as soon BOOn as the new armory is completed It is probable that it will be named company G C to fill the vacancy Company D the new organization at lIt Mt Pleasant Is now recruited Ito to its full all strength The officers have not been elected but Colonel Lund will go to Mt Pleasant in a few days at which time the new recruits will be mustered in and the officers elected This company dis displaces displaces places company D which was mustered out and its members transferred to the new organization To Company H HIt HIt It is probable that company H in Salt Lake will be reorganized in a few weeks Captain Freeman H Bassett his officers and men h ve handed in their resignations and asked to be e dIscharged This action was taken as a result of the re resignation resignation of Colonel Geoghegan as adjutant adjutant tant general Whether Captain Bassett and his company will take up work again depends upon the appointment of an ad adjutant adjutant general Governor John C Cutler said last Jast night that he had not selected an adjutant gent gen general eral from the list of names sent to him by bv the commissioned officers of the g guard ard When the guard matters are straight straightened straightened ened out and the proper time comes an adjutant general will be appointed he sa d but at the present time there is nothing to be said about it |
