Nebeker, who arrived yesterday from Iieeda. gatu Iht fullowing facts iu nlatmu to thai carop: At present Leeds is not particular lively, though at no time since tht formation of the district have the prospects beea so encouraging. Tbo Emily Jane is one of tbo finest pieces of property in southern Utah, It is owned by Col. E. A. Wall and A. Q. Hunter, the latter gentleman having recently purchaai.-d an inter-eat. inter-eat. They are making, daily ship, men is of twonty tons of good pay rock to the Hunter & Goes mill. The Starmont mine is improving rapidly; but owing to some diflerence ot opinion among the owners active development is somewhat retarded. An early and amicable settlement is almost certain, and then the Starmont Star-mont will boom. There is a strong probability that the company will soon erect a stamp mill. The Dupaix mill is at present almost idle, but is expected ex-pected soon to Btart up again. The Toquerville S. M. Co. are prospecting pros-pecting in their luunel, and thus far have b truck several very prutUHing ledges. Nearly all the ore in this district is of good milling Quality, beiug comparatively free from baan metals. There is quite a gold excitement at Leeds over the reported discoveries nn tbe other side of the Colorado of small quantities of the precious metal. There are at the present time about 300 men in Silver Reef, of whom perhaps per-haps 250 are employed. Weather hot. |
