Hack-ley Hack-ley and wife, MiaB G. Davis, Brace bridge Hemyug, (Jack Harkaway) Edwin A. Curloy, Harry Ogdeo, W. R. Yeager, W. B. Austin, W. K. Rice and H. S. Wicks. The latter gentleman is business manager of the trip, aud Frank Tanner is the car conductor. con-ductor. They travel in tho Pullman hotel car, "President," t'ie one on exhibition at the Oenlenui!, and which is perhaps the most magnificent magnifi-cent structure of thu kind in the world. Tbe car is their home on the trip. They remained in tbe city but one day, leaving yeaUrday afternoon for San Francisco ; however, the few hours spent in this city was employed advantageously. The chief points of interest in town were visited and hastily sketched. The object of the party is to gain information and obtain "views" of the country coun-try for Leslie's numerous publications. The company is m.-idc up of a competent com-petent corps of arliitd and editorial writers, and few objects of interest escape their ready attention. The 1 number of Mr. Leslie's publications is nineteen, most, if not all, ol which are very popular in this city, as elsewhere else-where throughout the United States, and in Europe. Probably i.o other person publishes so many periodicals as Mr. L, and with few exceptions his publicaLious are of an excellent character. char-acter. The party goes direct to San Francisco, Fran-cisco, and will pass a month in California Cali-fornia and Oregon, returning over land. Mr. L. expects to sp?nd a couple or three days in Utah on bis J return and will visit aome of the canons and mining camps. |
