The convention resembled this afternoon. .lu.-tiee F. Temple, of Grecu county, leceived tho nomination nomina-tion for Auditor General. Resolutions were adopted declaring that the Republican Re-publican party had been guilty of the most wicked and corrupt practices practi-ces during its whole hiatory, and by its machinations has brought about tho present prostration of the commercial com-mercial and industrial ii terests, to change which a change of administrators adminis-trators is necessary; opposing land gi ants and corporations; tavoring au honest and economical government; the abolition of the local and national fee system; retrenchment in salaries; 1 recognition of every just claim of sol-i diers' widows and orphans; demanding demand-ing that steady efforts be made to: bring government notes to par with gold and secure a return to specie 1 payment at the earliest possiblo period; denouncing the civil rights' bill as being an incalculable evil to both races and declaring mixed schools to be hostile to the interests' of society. Frazcr; Associate -Justice of the Supreme Court, D. M. Valentine. 'NEW JERSEY REPUBLICAN CONVENTION". Trenton, X. J., 27. The Ilepubli- can State Convention met here at noon. George A. Halsey, of Essex, was unanimously nominated lor Governor. Gov-ernor. Resolutions were adopted re-1 re-1 a Hi ruling the principles and eulogiz-I eulogiz-I ing the achievements of the Repub-j Repub-j lican party. They express unabated confidence in President Grant; favor such legislation as will maintain the I faith of the Government to its creditors cred-itors and the speedy resumption of 'specie payments, and approve such a I tarifl and such equal internal taxation taxa-tion as will afford protection to do-jmestic do-jmestic manufacturers and best pro-j pro-j mote and encourage the industrial interests of the State. The Democratic State Convention at Jefferson City, ! this morning, adopted a platform which reviews the Democratic administration admin-istration in the State during the last . two years. The resolutions arraign the Republican party for having passed pass-ed the Poland libel law; for the Credit Mobilier and revenue moiety frauds; denounce the salary grab; oppose the passage of the Civil Rights bill; de- in and tho ndvmftnl nfiho m.Min rlfthr. in exact accordance with the contract con-tract by which it was created; assert that the 5.20 bonds are payable in legal tenders, according to the act of February, 1S02, and that the subsequent subse-quent act of March, 18H0, pledging coin redemption, was usurpation; favor the repeal of the national banking bank-ing law and substitution of greenbacks, green-backs, and favor the repeal of all paper money at the earliest practicable practic-able day; denounce the present tariff and revenue law as unjust to Western producers, and pledge the Democratic party to nominate only men of tried honesty. 2ESS?nU DEMOCRATIC TICKET, St. Louis, 27. The following Democratic Dem-ocratic State ticket was nominated at Jefferson City. For Governor, Chas. H. Haslin; Lieu tenan t-Gover nor, Norman J. Coleman; Secretary of State, M. K. McGrafb; Auditor,Thos. Halliday; Treasurer, Jos. W. Mercer; 1 Register of Lands, Oscar Kochlitzky. The remainder of the ticket is not yet reported. |
