Show The Benefit, Notwithstanding the terrific windstorm wind-storm last evening, and the appearance appear-ance of rain, thero was u large audience audi-ence at the theatre, which showed that Mies Walters' friend i and admirers ad-mirers are numerous in Satt Lake. It also proved that the people hero are both sympathetic and generous. The lady, on making her appearance, was weicomea oy prolonged applause, which was repeated muiy times during the performance. The romantic ro-mantic play of "Ingomar," which had not been put upon the stuge in this city for two years, was fairly enacted en-acted and well received. Parthenia in one of Miss Walters' most tavorite characters, and ic it she appeared to1 excellent advantage. Mr. Lindsey's Ingomar was also a fine piece of acting; act-ing; and the support wtis very good. Margory, in "Rough Diamond," is another "star" character with Miss W., and with tousin Joe, (Mr. Graham) Gra-ham) she kept the audience con vulsed with laughter. After the curtain dropped on "In-gomar," "In-gomar," in response lo loud calls, Miss Walters came out and delivered a pretty little speech, appropriate to the occasion. Prof. Lo Mar's band (tho 1 lth infantry) that had played through the streets in the afternoon, behind one of Mulloy's four-in-hands, supplied sup-plied the music for the occasion. The orchestral programme embodied some charming pieces; aud the bind, in full uniform, appeared upon the stage and performed the overture "Zanipa" and the march, "Tannhauser," both of which were applauded. Miss Walters has reason to feel proud of last night's testimonial. |
