Show Tgouble for the Revivalists. The system of "inquiry rooms" introduced intro-duced by Messrs. Moody and Sankey does nob appear to be altogether a success, and at a conference of ministers min-isters held at Liverpool last week, with reference to ihe continuance o! the revival movement, the abuses of the inquiry room" formed tho subject of a discussion. Young persons, it seems, have found means of enrolling themselves among the workers, some of them gaining admission to the room on tlie pretense of being "inquirers," "in-quirers," and have been seen "talking "talk-ing unscriptural rubbish lo persons old enough to be their grandfathers and grandmothers." A great many young men and youne women, moreover, more-over, it is Btated, uso the inquiry room for the purpose of carrying on llirta-tiona, llirta-tiona, and il was urged that too much I caution could not be exercised in selecting the persons upon whom the responsibility rested of conversing with those who desire spiritual coun- j eel. There can be no doubt that the ; presence of theso wolves in sheep's clothing ought not to be tolerated in any well-regulated inquiry room, but it is to be feared there will be much diUiculty indetecting Ihem. Perhaps the best plan would be to establish a preliminary penance of a sufficiently disagreeable nature such as having tho imul slmvfd as a test of fciucer ity. Pall Mall GaietU, |
