Show Experiment Worthy of Imitation. General H. A. Morrow, commandant command-ant at Camp Douglas, is having several seve-ral acres of tho dry bench land ad-ioining' ad-ioining' tho post, seeded with alfalfa, the clover grasi which is being so extensively ex-tensively cultivated in, California. The General thinks this grass will grow without irrigation, and proposes pro-poses to make tho 'commendable experiment. ex-periment. Alfalfa is considered one of the most profitable crops grown in California, and if it can be raised witnout moisture except that which it attracts in the earth, there are thousands thous-ands ol acres of land in this and other counties of the Territory, now comparatively com-paratively useless, which can be made to yield rich returns. General Morrow has been mainly instrumental in making Oamp Douglas Doug-las the pleasant plane that it is, and we sincerely hope ho will bo successful suc-cessful in his present experiment of beautifying the reservation. |
