Show The Cottonwood Catastrophe Mr. W. L. Sullivan, orc-weigher at the Emma mine, reports as follow:-. Four bodies have been recovered from the scene of the late catastrophe; those of Dutch Pete, Leroy Dibble, T. J. Triplctt and James Elliot. Mr. Triplctt was brother-in-law to Mr. Geo. Chandler, and his body was brought to town on Sunday evening-Mr. evening-Mr. Elliot was a tcaruplcr for Mr. Benham. Triplet's team was found, as were also two of Kellcy's. Somo of SriffiYs horses were found without a particle oi Harness oo them but it is not expected that all tho bodies of the men and carcusses of the animals will bo recovered until the snow melts in i-tho spring. Tho Emma and Flagstaff Flag-staff mines each sent a force of men to aid in tho search for the recovery of the bodies; and tho citizens of Alta havo turned out to make a new road on the other side of the canyon, whioh is a very sensible and spirited procced- ing on their part. i The telegraph wire is down for several sev-eral miles. The roads are very muddy and heavy up to Tanner's; above that the snow is four feet deep. |
