Show Te.nto Ward Meeting House. The new meeting house in this ward is so far completed that the citizens were enabled to use it on Sunday afternoon for the purpose of holding public meeting, meet-ing, at which was a goodiy attendance nathelesa the rain, and pleasant feelings feel-ings and gratifications indulged in upon their success in providing more accommodation for the wants of public gatherings. The house is 55 feet loug by 35 feet wide, and 18 feet 6 inches from floor to ceiling. The foundation of rock is some five feet huh, topped with a water table of cut stono, and the walls arc of brisk. The building, doors, and windows, though not imposing, impos-ing, arc well proportioned, and make a good appearance, reflecting considerable consider-able credit upon bishop Proctor, the members of the ward, and the building committee, who haveldepended upon 1 their own resources, architecturally, mecnanicauy, ana nneacialiyi I he people of the ward have been united in the matter, and have built the bouse thus far by contributions without a cent of taxation, which, in consideration conside-ration of their pucuniary circumstances, is worthy of all the praise they can desire for the public improvement. |
