Show Contiguous Crime. The Piochc I?ecn? of Thursday gives an account of the shooting of one Kis- tell, a Cornishman, by D.W.Cherry, a negro. Cherry had had some barley stolen, and was on the watch with a double-barrelled shot gun. He fired at Kistell, who enteral tho corral, hitting him in the neck, face and leg, killing him almost instantly. The coronor's jury brought in a verdict to that effect, and Cherry was committed commit-ted after preliminary examination. The Ogden Junction of Monday rc-! rc-! ports the suicide at Evauston, Wyo., last Friday, of Mrs. Cliristiana, wife of A. L. Miller. Mr. Miller having lately failed in business, had become morose and brutal, and ill-treated his wife, who workal hard to support him. She finally becoming tired of such a life, took a dose of opium, living liv-ing but a short time. She wrote two pathetic letters, before her death, to her father and husband, asking their forgiveness. |
