By the subjoined correspondence it will be eeen that a number of leading gentlemen of this city have tendered to Minister DeLong and the Japanese Embassy a social banquet, to be given at the Townsend house. Minister De-Long De-Long accepts, in behalf of the Embassy Embas-sy and himself, and Monday evening is named as the time; the acceptance for that date, however, being conditional on the opening of the U. P. railroad i lor travel. We would remind the ladies that this is a social, not an official, banquet, in which they can participate and enliven en-liven it with their presence and beauty. And the gentlemen will wish to see their charms shed lustre on the festive occasion. The banquet will be a season of pleasant intercourse, hightcned by cloqnence and intellectual gratification; 1 and the evening will be a memento to be remembered in after years by all the , participants.
