Show THE WAR. Preparations for the Defense of Paris nearly Completed. 20 Armed Vessels Kanned by Germans reported to have left American Ports to prey on French Commerce. The Bombardment cf Strasbourg. Stras-bourg. An Attack on the Baltic Fortresses For-tresses Immediately Expected. FOREIGN. By Cable. Paris, Aug- 29. Yesterday the Corps Legislatif voted that the urgency of the situation demanded two important impor-tant measures : first, the formation of battalions from the gardes nationale, home guards and firemen of each department, de-partment, who should be lightly equip-norl equip-norl anrl esneciallv designed to hang upon the march of the enemy, attacking attack-ing him at every opportunity ; the second sec-ond was, for the government to take, at prices agreed on, all arms manufactured manufac-tured in France, either for foreign or speculative parties, and now ready for use. The committee of defense meets twice daily, and its measures and orders are promptly executed. It is positively asserted that Falikao will announce this week to the Chambers Cham-bers that the work of preparing Pans for a siege is entirely completed. A special correspondent writes from Mezieres on Sunday: I left Bethel yesterday yes-terday morning and was oue day on the road. On my arrival here I found n? troops besides the garrison, but the Prince Imperial has arrived during the day with an escort of cents gardes. The Emperor stopped at Toulernon night before last, and started for Leschen, sending the Prince here at the same time. This morning the Prince and escort started at half past ten o'clock for a secret destination, which I am privately informed is Sedan, thus proving the Pnissianshave not, as reported, cut the railway, between be-tween Mezieres and Sedan. The Prince goes by road, indeed, but he would not be sent forward unless the neighborhood was clear ot the enemy. We start to-morrow for Montmedy via Sedan. To-day there arrived several hundred artillery horses and some guns from Yincennes, for the ramparts here. It is certain McMahon does not mean to fight for some days. The national na-tional guards here are in uniforms 160 years old and wholly undrilled, but are ready to fight. The mobiles have no uniforms at all but look soldierly. 1 lie persecution of correspondents continues. con-tinues. All have been expelled irom Bethel, on whom the authorities could lay their hands. . A special correspondent writes troni the Crown Prince's headquarters at Lieuy. Aug. 24th: The king, Moltke and Bismarck have arrived here. The streets have been choked with Bavarian Bava-rian troops since morning. Infantry, cavalry, artillery, wagon trains, and everything, move ceaselessly forward. The troops are in excellent condition. This saute 'correspondent adds a sen tence, showing tuat me n" knew a week since of the last ireneh movement.
