Show e e SAM TOO LAD O FEDERATION MEETS AT NAH VILLE I DECEMBER Industrial Stagnation Has Not Been Abated Wrongs Have Not Been Sighted Arraignment of Injunction Injunc-tion by Judiciary Washington Oct 19 President Samuel Sam-uel Gompers by Frank Morrison secretary sec-retary haS issued a call to all affiliated affil-iated unions for the 17th annual convention con-vention of the American Federation of Labor to be held at Nashville Tenn in the hall of the house of representatives represen-tatives at 10 oclock Monday Dec 13 next Resolutions of any character or propositions for changes in the constitution consti-tution Intended for consideration by the convention must be submitted to the secretary at least two weeks prior to the meeting The call makes a strong plea for a full attendance of workmen at this convention con-vention and states that no convention in many years has been called upon to deal with more momentous questions than confront the workers of today The objects of the csivctitlon are in part thus set out in the call The severities of the industrial stagnation stag-nation of the post four years has not yet been abated the wrongs from which the workers suffer have not been righted the injustice imposed upon our people remains unremedIed the overworked over-worked large mass and the unemployed many are still testimony to the folly of our age the employment of children in our factories and workshops though modified lingers with us still and the spectacle is witnessed of idle men and laboriously busy children legislatures more concerned with the privileges of the few than to the many with public assemblage and free speech Invaded threatened or forbidden and the modern mod-ern judicial weapon of injunction util ized in the effort to crush labor These rights and wrongs and others of equal Importance but too numerous for reference ref-erence here must of necessity be considered I con-sidered by the forthcoming convention con-vention and such action devised as shall tend to attain the one and set aside the other Strike Ends Satisfactorly Philadelphia Oct 19The 300 employees em-ployees of John and James Dobson Bradford cloth mills who have been on a strike for several weeks returned to work today on receiving a promise from the superintendent that the 10 percent per-cent increase in wages would he anted ant-ed in the near future probably in December De-cember AU the old hands were taken back |
