Show SAME OLD STORY Yellow Fever Shows 3To Decline inCases in-Cases Reported New Orleans i Oct 14It was the same old story here today The yellow fever situation showed no decline In the number of cases reported The death column was about normal What was said In this report last night was borne out by todays figures There has been no Increase In the malignancy of the disease Yesterdays record of nine deaths was exceptional It was 7 oclock lontght before a third as many death were reported today as had been in the previous 24 hours The existing conditions are not favorable favor-able for aulck stamping out of the disease The weather is warm and sultry and unusual for the seasonand if It keeps up there will be little improvement Improve-ment for the time being The record of the day shows 42 new cases and the following deaths Allen Dille Henry Caas John Garbo Henry Frantz Professor Metz said this evening that up to dark there had been 719 cases al together of yellow fever here rjid 423 foci of infection Since the beginning of the sickness 123 foci have been abso utely wiped out and there remained this afternoon but 260 with approximately approxi-mately 315 cases under treatment The figures the doctor said were gratifyIng gratify-Ing owing to the fact that they showed that the good work had been done hrough sanitary methods In receiving hospitals that If left alone would have helped to breed an epidemic Residents of the vicinity have protested pro-tested against the receiving of patients at Touro hospital Rabbi Leucht and Dr Loeber however contend that there Is no danger in receiving the patients In the hospital and that they will continue con-tinue to do so During a month 29 cases have been treated in the hospital Five have died four have been discharged and 20 are still being cared for Yet not a single case of the fever has originated In the Institution and the system of isolation and disinfection is so perfect that the disease has been confined to a single quarter of the building devoted for the time being to handling cases of yellow jack Sixteen of the cases have been treated by the hospital free of any charge Government Bulletin Washington Oct 14 Surgeon General Gen-eral Wymans bulletin of new cases and deaths from yellow fever today is as follows Franklin La one case fatal Mobile five cases one death Flomaton Ala four cases Bay Minette Ala one case fatal McHenry Miss six cases Scranton Miss ten cases one death Edwards Miss six cases Clinton Miss one death BIloxI Miss 13 cases and one death Dr Gwitetas who has been making a tour of the yellow fever is on his way to Philadelphia to resume his duties in one of the colleges there |
