Show U S CIRCUIT COURT Short Session at Which Only Informal In-formal Matters Trere Attended to The United States circuit court met yesterday morning in the Dooly block with Judge Marshall on the bench The session did not last l more than ten minutes during which a few formal orders were made In the matter of the Gold and Silver I Siver Extraction Company of America urn ited vs the Mercur Gold Mining and Milling company leve was granted the plaintiff to file 4i amended com plaint by Monday next William Howard of Emery county was appointed a United States court commissioner In the case against Peter M Baum a southern Utah attorney charged with the offense of adultery with a Miss Smith of Iron county the defend ant was allowed to put up a bond of 200 to secure his appearance for trial in lieu of a cash deposit for that amount which he made when arrested I some months ago the bond to be ap proved by Clerk of the Court Letcher Hugh T Butler of Denver and a member of the supreme court of the United States was enrolled as a mem ber of the Utah court Attorney P L Williams chairman of the committee on rules reported that the committee had not yet been able to agree upon regulations govern ing the practice of the court and asked for further time which was granted Judge King inquired of the court as a to when one of the other circuit judges would be in Salt Lake to Sal hear cases in which Judge Marshall was disqualified The latter in reply did not know but would communicate with Judge San borne at once with a view to securing information on that point Court Notes The trial of the cases against Harry Haynes in connection with the alleged county frauds will commence this morning before Judge Hues Fred Richter was arrested on a warrant issued from Justice Harveys court charging him with petit larceny of 20 worth of goods the property of C M Gilbert He will have a hearing this morning F E McGurrin swore to a complaint charging exPolice Officer De Young with obtaining money uner false wIh pretenses pre-tenses I appeared from the complaint com-plaint that De Young had given Mc Gurrin an order on the city treasurer for 30 but before the order was cashed had drawn all the money that was coming to him His bond was fixed at 100 pending the preliminary bearing |
