Show I FISH SPRINGS MINES The Utah and Galena Both Make Most Elegant Showings Not much has been said during the Utah and past year or so regarding the Galena mines in Fish Springs district Juab county yet all the same notwithstanding I not-withstanding adverse silver legislation and the lack of railroad facilities these two embryotic bonanzas have been mod estly very modestly indeed contributing contribut-ing their share to the imperishable wealth of the country and as work progresses and the silver and lead markets mar-kets becomes better even without railroad road advantages we shall expect to hear that these two mines Jiave taken their places with the best of Utahs heavy dividend payers The Utah mine was incorporated in July 1892 with a capitalization of 100 000 shares of a nar value of 10 each and since that date it has paid 139000 in dividends and on the 10th of this month will Day another dividend of 2000 The officers and directors of the Utah company are as follows E 11 Weiler president P J Reid vice president W S Crismon secretary and treasurer Charles Van Alystine George Crismon Mrs E T Crismon and W H McIntyre The Galena mine was incorporated in May 1893 with a capitalization the same as the Utah This property has not been worked continuously since incorporation in-corporation but since September 1895 i has paid 18000 in dividends and to this amount will add 3000 more onthe 10th of this month The officers and directors of the Galena Ga-lena are George Grismon president Charles Van Alystine vicepresident W S Crismon secretary and treasurer treas-urer E 11 order of court This property is said to be worth at least 50000 as it has a thirtyfoot body of high grade lead ore exposed in its lower workings Captain George Ryan superintendent of the West Cable mine in Tintic came in from Eureka yesterday and was busy all day shaking Jiands with his many friends here The captain says that the West Cable is showing favorable indications and that he has hopes will be accompanied ac-companied by several Colorado capitalists cap-italists Mr Ladds family will soon take up their residence in this city Messrs Senior and Ladd are active and enterprising gentlemen and through their efforts a lae l amount of foreign capital will be brought into Mercur Tim Sullivan and Tohn A Hunt both of Eureka and prominent in mining as well as business circles arrived in the city yesterday and will remain for several days They are firm in the belief be-lief that the great Tjntic district will be found doing business just the same after Mercur has incorporated and doubled in population Both gentlemen agree that the present year will witness wit-ness about Eureka and Mammoth a large number of paying mines opened up The passenger department of the Rio Grande Western railway is leaving no stone unturned in order that people may learn of Mercur the Johannesburg Johannes-burg of America and its reading notices descriptive of ithe great and unrivaled mineral resources of Camp Floyd district are to be found in thousands thous-ands of newspapers in the middle and eastern states The Rio Grande Western West-ern peqple are right up to snuff on enterprise and it is not often ithat they are found napping At yesterdays call on the floor of the mining exchange Judge E F Colborn read a letter from Hon C E Allen in which Mr Allen made a request for all the information obtainable on the resources of Camp Floyd mining district dis-trict as he was about to introduce a bill in congress providing for a geological geologi-cal survey of the district A government govern-ment geological survey of Camp Floyd district would be a great boon to the people of Utah and i is to be hoped that Mr Allen will be successful in his efforts in this direction As the irrigation season approaches considerable attention is being paid to the sand and sediment trap the invention in-vention of Don C Robbins of this city This unique and successful device de-vice for the maintenance of clean I ditches is all and more than is claimed for it by its inventor and no ditch company or irrigator can afford to > be without one or more of them on the premises A company has been formed for the manufacture and sale of this sediment trap a working model I of which can be seen at Mr Ulmers office in the Progress block According to the Tooele Transcript David Judd and others of Grantsville while prospecting in Skull valley the other day happened on to a rich vein of ore He located the claim and named it Anaconda He afterwards sent a few specimens to Salt Lake City to ascertain its true value receiving the returns by mail and to his great astonishment the assay reads as follows fol-lows Fortyseven ounces silver fourteen four-teen
