| Show FOUND ARSENICAL ORE Great Excitement In Mereur Over n Discovery In the Eagle Special to The Herald MERCUR Feb 10Great excitement excite-ment prevails in Mercur today over the discovery of arsenical ore in the Eagle mine as it proves the continuity of the zone of rich ore from the mines ricl of Mercur to this property The Eagle shaft is now down 270 feet and for some time the men employed in the mine have been sinking in oxidized oxi-dized ore that gave good promise for the future of this property but yesterday yester-day this grade of rock gave way to a body of arsenical ore which from all appearances is identical to that found in the Golden Gate mine This is one of the most important discoveries made in the camp of late as it demonstrates the fact that all of the intervening ground between Mercur and the Eagle mine is on the same belt and that all that is needed to transform the different claims within with-in the charmed circle into producing mines is work and plenty of it George L Korner one of the Bade company was on the ground when the discovery was made and to say that he is greatly elated is putting it mild Work is being pushed on the property and already the new ore body has been sunk upon for some distance Manager P J Quealey of the Old Grover group recently a portion of the Cannon property began work yesterday yester-day sinking a shaft on the Mary E lode one of the claims composed in the group Mr Quealey who recently explored the underground workings of the Golden Gate is free to say that it is the greatest mine in the United States and as the Old Grover group adjoins this property he is sanguine that success will crown his efforts and that of his associates Work is being pushed on the East Golden Gate and from all appearances appear-ances vthe company means business for preparations are being made for the erection of a substantial hoist and the engine and boilers will be the best yet brought into this camp The double compartment shaft on this property pro-perty is even now in good ground and under the direction of two such mining men as G H Robinson and George KisMngsbury it is but a question of time before the property will be transformed trans-formed into a producing mine The Gold Dust is also showing up well and already good values have been obtained It is the intention however to sink until the main ore body is reached and while not much is being said regarding this property the company com-pany is sawing wood and attending strictly to business Mercur and the whole district is booming and our streets are filled with strangers |
