| Show TiE OLD RELIABLE One of the Greatest Producing Campn of the West Judge Barney Quinn of Bingham who is in the city on business says that in his opinion Bingham is one of the greatest mining camps in the i west and to prove his assertion he I states that he can count one hundred mines in that camp that are now pro ducing or are on the list as producing I mines and he wants to know what camp can beat this At the present time Bingham is furnishing fur-nishing threefourths of the lead produced pro-duced In the west and her great mines seem inexhaustible while her leading mines such as the Old Jordan and I South Galena the DaHon > and Lark the Lead mine the Phoenix the Yosemite Yo-semite No 1 and a dozen other producers pro-ducers are daily sending out a stream I of wealth I In the Phoenix mine with which the I Coromandel va recently consolidated a body of high grade ore has recently been uncovered which Judge Quinn says is th6 largest body of ore ever exhibited in West Mountain mining district and that there are millions insight in-sight in tails mine I In Markham gulch a fine body of hgh grade ore has been opened up In the Erie mine in which Messrs Groes beck and Raybould are interested and in the same locality a number of fine discoveries have been made of late While mining has been carried on in Bingham for many years but little depth comparatively has been obtained ob-tained on account of an over surplus of water but this water problem is now being solved by running long tunnels tun-nels which dram the mines at great depth One tunnel the Butterfield is already in a distance of 8200 feet the face being at a vertical depth of 2200 feet and In its construction fine ore bodies have been cut which proves without a question of doubt the permanence per-manence and continuity of the ore bearing zone of the district Two other lony tunnels are in contempc ton and in the construction of one of these work has already been begun The most Important transaction of late years in Bingham was the purchase pur-chase of the Lead Mill properties by Messrs Schenck and flea owners of the Dalton and Lark This was a transaction of mammoth proportions and cannob but have a beneficial effect ef-fect upon the camp The new purchasers pur-chasers are already opening up the tramway and yesterday they began I work on Its extension to the Yosemite No 1 mine which will use it to trans I port its ores to the railroad and in bringing back freight to the mine I |
