Show I fTlKfflLEYS MANAGER IUVXXA TALKS AT A MZVOHEOX1 OF BUSEVESS 3IEV Administration Recently Chosen Will Go Into Ollice Without Pledge of Any Kind and Wholly Uncommitted ns Regards the Formation For-mation of a Cabinet NEW YORK Nov 10Chairman Mark A Hanna was busy today at I Republican national headquarters winding up the business details of the I campaign He leaves tomorrow for I Cleveland where Presidentelect McKinley Mc-Kinley will be his guest for a week I is expected that the personnel of the j I new cabinet will be pretty well decided upon before the visit comes to an end Mr Hanna when asked if he was going go-ing to make any additional statement regarding the political situation before statements he left replied The time is past for A luncheon was given this afternoon by Mr Isaac H Sellgman in honor of Mr Hanna There were 30 or 40 guests at the table among them being Mr Edward N Gibbs of the New York Life John Harson Rhodes president of the Greenwich Savings bank John A Stewart of the United States Trust company General Horace Porter Cornelius N Bliss Solomon Loeb of i Kuhn Loeb Co Carl churz Edward Ed-ward E Poor president of the National Na-tional Park bank David M Einstein I General Louis Fitzgerald president of I the Mercantile Trust company Seth I Low D O Mills J Edwards Simmons j A G Payne of the New York Life and i Edward King ofthe Union Trust corI j pany J 1 The luncheon was informal and here I were several short speeches Mr Seligman emphasized the importance I im-portance of joint action in the future by the Republicans and National I uemocrats in settling the currency question Mr Hanna spoke at some length and said that the administration administraton recently re-cently chosen would go Into office without with-out pledges of any kind and wholly uncommitted as regards the formation of a cabinet This statement was greeted with applause Mr Hanna also spoke on the general gen-eral character of the work done by both National Democrats and Republicans Republic-ans in the campaign and said both Republicans and National Democrats would preserve the organization intact j to further the work SD auspiciously begun be-gun He hoped this organization would be enabled to enlist all good citizens in the work still to be done to bring about thoroughly good conditions condi-tions of business The general opinion was expressed I that no new political questions should be pushed to the front to disturb business busi-ness that the country should now have an opportunity to build up national na-tional industries and If that were done there would be such an advance in general gen-eral prosperity that laboring men and I business men alike would feel the benefit i bene-fit resulting from the last I election I I |
