Show HO MOVEMENT SOON I Cerveras Four Helpless Ships Still Block All Operations Tampa Fla June ° There is but little change TnThe general situation here It can be stated positively that no troops have been embarked at this point and until definite and official news Is received from the fleets of Sampson and Schley it is the generally expressed opinion among the army officers I of-ficers that no movement of troops from here in the direction of Cuba will be ordered The powerful fleet of Admiral Ad-miral Cervera is still much of a factor It is stated that there is no intention inten-tion on the nart of the authorities to assume anr more risks than Is absolutely abso-lutely necessary in sending a big fleet of practically unarmed and therefore helpless transports into Cuban waters For this reason until the Spanish fleet Is disposed of or until a sufficient number num-ber of United States warships can be spared to insure protection for the transports from Tampa to their destination desti-nation no move from here is expected When this will be Is uncertain but although nothing official can be learned I on this point it Is not believed any large movement will take place in the imediate future I General Nelson A Miles with several sev-eral of his staff today made a tour I i of inspection f the various regular I and volunteer camps around Tampa I The main volunteer camp natll Palmetto I 1 Beach was visited late I In the afternoon I after-noon General Miles reviewing a brigade bri-gade drill of the Thirtysecond Michigan I Mich-igan and First Florida regiments Colonel Leonard Woods volunteer regiment of cavalry better known as Roosevelts rough riders 960 men all told arrived In Tampa tonight and bl vouaced In the city Colonel Woods and Colonel Roosevelt accompanied I the company A little over SCO of the I men are fully armed and equipped This regiment has been officially designated de-signated as the First United States volunteer cavalr |
