Show VALUE OP CORN FODDER The Maine agricultural station finds that of ten samples of timothy hay 57 per cent was found digestible while 71 ner cent of flint corn fodder was found to bo digestible and that corn fodder had quite as high coefficients of digesti bility as corn silage The dent corn must be cut immature in Maine for the reason rea-son that flint varieties have a larger per cent of dry matter but the excess consists in nonnitrogenous matter The drv matter of the corn contained 78 percent per-cent more protein 791 per cent more fi bre and flSVper cent loss nitrogen free extract When ti in i the silking stage the nitrocen extract of the Jflint corn made 47 per cent of the plant but this propor tion increased to 73 per cent at matur ity The mature corn contained much the larger proportion of the sugar starch |
