Show IN KANSAS State Temperance Union Decides Upon Up-on a Plan of Political Action eton TOPEKA Kan March 29The Kansas State Temperance union decided upon a I plan of political action for the coming campaign I proposes to secure a written writ-ten pledge from 30000 voters that they will not voto for any candidate who is not openly pledged to the enforcement of the prohibitory law The idea is that 30000 voters pledged to this condition will constitute the balance of power in Kansas political affairs and can either secure their demands or wreck any ticket which refuses to take the required pledge The work of securing signatures has commenced The pledge which voters are asked to sign reads a follows I the undersigned do solemnly pledge myself to be one of 30000 or more voters of the state of Kansas who will not within with-in two years after March 1 1S96 vote for any candidate for any office state or local whose duties are connected with the enforcement or administration of law who shall not previously and publicly if so required by any voter pledge himself him-self to do all in his power if elected to enforce all the laws and if possible make them more efficient for the carrying carry-ing out of the provisions of the constitution consti-tution of the state of Kansas particularly particu-larly those prohibiting the manufacture and sale of intoxicating liquors Should there be more than one candidate for the same office who shall thus pledge himself I shall Vote for the one whom I believe to be most sincere and honest beleve This pledge shall be binding upon me a soon a I am notified that not less than 50000 voters of the state have signed a similar pledge |
