Show INTERSTATE LAW John B Watson Indicted for n Violation Vio-lation of It I KANSAS CITY May Considerable surprise was caused among local shippers ship-pers today when it became knottn that the federal grand jury which was discharged dis-charged Saturday had indicted John B Watkins formerly superintendent of the Indian Rice Milling company for violating violat-ing the interstate commerce law Watkins Wat-kins was arrested but released upon furnishing fur-nishing a 1000 bond The section of the law under which Watkins was indicted was the tenth which applies to the reporting I re-porting of false weights by shippers Watkins arrest is due to information furnished the grand jury by George L Carmen secretary of the Western Weighing Weigh-ing association at Chicago Other shippers are said to rest uneasy under the belief that three other indictments indict-ments returned by the same grand jury also charge improper weighing Watkins who is prominent said to a reporter today to-day Im getting the bump for this business when I have nothing more to do with i than you have But you can just bet that if they do anything with me therell be a whole lot of others to go alonE at the same time |
