Show ELECTRICAL EXHIBITION I IT PROVES TO BE A lOST SUCCESSFUL SUCCESS-FUL AFAIR I The Chaining of Niagara n Triumph Tri-umph of Mind Over Matter the Result of Undreamed of Progress and Therefore Comnuindx Our Congratulation Con-gratulation The One Sayreme Triumph of I Most Wonderful Age NEW YORK May 4The national electrical exposition under the auspices of the National Electric Light association associa-tion opened at the Grand Central palace tonight I was opened by the pressing of a golden key by Governor Morton which sent out an electric current that discharged dis-charged cannon in San Francisco New Orleans St Paul Augusta Me and London England and from the roof of the exposition building An immense crowd attended the opening open-ing C H Wilmerding president of the National Electric Light association introduced intro-duced Mayor Wurster of Brooklyn as chairman Mayor Wurster after a brief speech introduced Governor Morton who spoke as follows Mr President and officers of the National Na-tional Electric exposition I feel honored by the invitation which you have extended ex-tended me to release the electric current generated by the power of the great cataract at Niagara and in accordance with your wishes I now declare this exposition ex-position duly opened CONGRATULATIONS The following telegram was received from the mayor of San Francisco San Francisco recognizes the electrical chaining of the Niagara as one supreme triumph of this wonderful age It is a triumph of mind over matter the result I of undreamed of progress and therefore commands our congratulations W H Preece who has charge of the land force of the Great Britain telegraphs tele-graphs in answer to the signal given replied re-plied Wish your exposition every possible pos-sible success Dispatches were also received from Augusta St Paul and New Orleans declaring de-claring that the GUNS HAD GONE OFF satisfactorily When Governor Morton turned the key a volume of fluorescent light danced through the tubes that environed en-vironed the place where he stood Simultaneously Simul-taneously the electric lights around the different exhibits blazed out in different colors and created a sight that looked like a scene from Fairyland One of the most interesting of the exhibits ex-hibits was the Edison apparatus showing the telegraph and telephone equipment the earliest forms of electric lighting transmission motors and models together with four sets of apparatus with which experts gave exhibitions of the Roentgen rays so arranged that by using the fluorescone Into their hands people were able to inspect their own anatomies |
