Show CHARLEY KENT As announced yesterday in a special to The Herald from this city Charles Kent accepted an offer to travel and sing with Primrose and Wests minstrel min-strel troupe and left with that organization organ-ization at 230 yesterday morning It is understood that he sang a selection selec-tion or two for the powers that pass judgment on the abilities of applicants for such positions and they wanted him He came high but they had to have him so he is gone Maybe Ogden people will appreciate him now thait they cannot hear him oftener than once a year and even then have to put up the price of admission to a firstclass show Kent has a magnificent magnifi-cent voice Kent knew it himself and about everyone else in Ogden ought to know it for he was never stingy with his voice He has sung at church so ciables lodge parties serenades weddings wed-dings christenings and funerals He has sung almost everything from campaign doggerel to O MyFather I and if the writer of this knew enough about the technique of music to express ex-press more surely that he has sung the whole gamut of musical compositions he would do so And everyone from the veriest ragamuffin to the cultured and critical judges in the Eisteddfod contest con-test wanted to hear Kent again and again The Herald hopes he will quickly quick-ly win fortune and fame and then come back and settle down in Ogden and sing again for love so that he may be heard nearly every week day and twice on Sunday |
