Show Logan Lines LOGAN May 3AboUt a dozen editors I t itors of the Utah Press association arrived S ar-rived in this city yesterday to hold the I annual meeting of said association The j Brethren were met by representatives of the local papers and taken to the Hanks hotel A short sessipn was held i I which was adjourned until this morning morn-ing and the quill drivers were escorted f I to the agricultural college where that I grand institution of learning was inspected i in-spected in its many departments The proprietors of the Journal tendered the boys Informal banquet at the Hanks hotel after which the crowd took in the choir concert Upon Invitation from the Republican management the editors then attended a wine supper thus closing a very enjoyable suppr joyable day Today President Rognon tendered his 1 g Q = I r resignation to the association After the meeting Manager E P Bacon of the Hercules Electric company took the editors to the seat of his power plant three miles up Logan canyon After avery a-very pleasant sojourn in the Temple City of the north the editors returned to their homes on the afternoon train The concert given by the tabernacle taberale choir last evening was highly successful 1 success-ful both from a financial as well a asocial a-social point of View Mr Easton sang it being his first appearance since his return from California He received an ovation The visiting editors who were extended the courtesy of the concert were present and enjoyed the pr gramme very much The proceeds of the entertainment will be devoted to a i fund for the purchase of a large pipe organ for the tabernacle John Holland was driving a frisky horse along Main street Saturday when the animal began t kick and run breaking a shaft of the buggy and part of the harness Mr Holland jumped I from the vehicle uninjured The military election for filling the vacancy caused by the resignation of Captain John M Wilson of company D Utah National Guard was held last evening at the court house in this city I Colonel Warrum supervised the election elec-tion H Jensen was chosen captain Second Lieutenant C L Shelton was elected first lieutenant and Sergeant Joseph Mair was elected second lieutenant At a meeting of the Sportsmens club of Cache county held Thursday evening even-ing President Thomas H Lewis was unanimously recommended for appOintment ap-pointment to the position of fish and game warden of Cache county Mr Lewis is a thorough sport and has always al-ways been active in heimng to enforce the law for the protection of our fish and game He is a man of judgment and ability and would make an excellent excel-lent warden Several cheap jewelry fiends have been disposing of their coated wares I lately I Ben Alexander representing the Fashion Taylormg company of San I Francisco Cal is in the city with his local agent Mr Quince Nichols Mr Alexander thinks of establishing a I branch in this city ciy On Saturday Mr Joseph Odell the I genial docket clerk of the lower legislative I legis-lative house became a father for the I first time his wife presenting him with a fine boy All concerned doing well I |
