Show TO AID NEBRASKA FARMERS Collect Food For UnioI1 Meeting to Drouth Sufferers rz Ihicago March 31A union meeting I toe Evanstou churches was held I I 2o ti9 S this afternoon at the First Methodist church for the purpose o giving aid to the suffering farmers in Nebraska The meeting wes presided over by Major E D Redington Short addresses ad-dresses were made by D W Huntington Hunting-ton of Lincoln Neb Rev C A Dale presiding elder of Holdredge district Rev J C Duval of Hays county and Rev C C Cissell of Perkins county Rev Huntington In his appeal said that in the western part of Nebraska the people had not been able to raise any crops to speak of since 1889 At present he said no sign of vegetation exists and there are 150000 people in need They have been provided wit clothing but their greatest need is food Upon suggestion of Rev Bristol Bris-tol a committee of eight was appointed ap-pointed to make a thorough canvass of the city asking for help for the needy sufferers |
