Show l HAlMAS SET SAIL STUDENTS OF POFULVUH AND MAYAS TO TOUR EUROPE Four Master Minds Lending Places opliisis Vill Go Abroad to Show that All the Mnhutiiuix Are Energized En-ergized in America NEW YORK June 5Four of the I master minds of theosophy are going to Europe in a little time to do some wonderful things They are not going in their astral bodies but in a rand r-and will pay their way just as ordinary folk do who have no inside pull with Mahatmas Two or three others who have not yet reached the pinnacle of theosophical wisdom are going along with the four to help the good cause along in their humble way The four master minds are owned by Ernest Temple Hargrove who was recently re-cently elected president of the Theosophical sophical society Mrs Katherine Alice Tingley the boss theosophist of them all on whom has fallen the mantle of Helen T Blavatski and W Q Judge and Mr and Mrs Claude Falls Wright who were recently married by a veiled Mahatma complete the quartette of master minds The secondary minds in the party are owned by H T Patterson Pat-terson Mrs Fussell and Mrs Keight ley all of them deeply studied in Poful Vuh and Mayas and Quiches T be a theosophist and not to have read Po fulVuh and Mayas and Quiches is a terrible state of affairs These wonderful minds are not superstitious su-perstitious for their owners have engaged en-gaged passage on a steamer which sails on Saturday June 13 Some people pIe might demur at beginning a voyage on the 13th of the month but the exalted ex-alted mind of the theosophist passes lightly over such trivialities Even the newest chela would not think about bothering over a matter of that kind A chela be I known is the pupil of an adept An adept is just one rung on the thecsophical ladder below a Mahatma Ma-hatma Mahatma is Sanscrit for great soul Mah is great and atma is soul To amount to anything in the occult line it is necessary to begin life a a chela It is hard work to become an adept and to become a Mahatma requires re-quires a fund of faking that is inexhaustible inex-haustible OBJECT OF THE TRIP The object of the trip to Europe is regarded with suspicion by those who are familiar with the doings of theosophical sophical leaders In the past About twenty years ago Blavatsky and Ol cott went to India and then sent back word that theosophy had existed in India for four thousand years Mahatmas Mahat-mas abounded there and everyone was at least an adept The very young children were the ohelas This news gave a big boom to theosophy in this country and England Skilled East Indian In-dian travelers asserted however that theosophy was never heard of in India until Blavatsky and Olcott went there and drummed up some excitement among a few credulous natives Even then it amounted to nothing and now theosophists in India are a scarce as snowballs at the equator With this as a precedent astonishing reports can be looked for when the master minds reach Egypt Among the ancient peoples there it should be an easy matter to show that theosophy flourished in the time of the pharaohs or thait it came out of the ark with Shem the son of Noah But according accord-ing to the programme of the masterminds master-minds they do not intend to devote aUf aU-f their time to Egypt Every country in Europe will be visited and the fact made known that America is the fountainhead fount-ainhead of theosophy that the reincarnated rein-carnated spirits of the great men and women of thousands of years ago abide here In the bodies of other folks and that in the matter of age Europe is not in it with thiscountry How this is to be reconciled with the assertion assertan of Helen Blavatsky that theosophy ex isted in India 4000 years ago and was only introduced to this country within the past two decades is a problem too deep for the lay mind to solve although al-though it is doubtless very clear to the master minds AN INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CONVEN-TION There is to be a convention in Dublin during August of all the theosophical societies of Europe At this convention the four master minds will make the claim of Americas greatness in theosophy theos-ophy and a great hullabaloo is certain to be raised because the European adepts take very little stock in the societies so-cieties hereAbout here-About the European tour Mr Har grove the president said We go first to London and then through France Holland Switzerland Germany Italy and Egypt In all of the principal cit ies we will lecture particularly among the poor In Egypt we are going to vis it two individuals two individuals old friends of Mrs Blavatsky with whom we are sated You know certain members of the great occult brother hood live in Egypt One of these two individuals may come to live and work in America He is a deep student in theosophy and occultism Eventually Eventualy we will go to Australia where there are may believers Much mystery surrounds Mrs Katherine Kath-erine Alice TJngley the successor of Blavatsky She lives at No 373 West End avenue in the heart of the fashionable fash-ionable West Side district and the neighbors say that bewhiskered Mahat 1lahat mas fly in and out of the house all day long No one ever heard anything about her until the great boner was thrust upon her She i something over 40 in years and weighs close to 200 pounds In this latter she resembles Blaratsky She has a husband but he does not figure in theosophy She was born in Newburyport Mass and first married George W Parent a de tective who died some years ago One of her biographers says She was in spiritualism up to her neck after her husband died The same writer dwells upon the fact that her guide was an aged East Indian ghost In ghast hEr clairvoyance practice she was suc cessiul Theosophists profess to look down upon spiritualism They say that a spiritualistic medium is one who has no control over his power and is at the mercy of external influences A Theosophical adept on the other hand has a mind of such magnitude that he can withstand external influences |
