Show ALOT5EnIGPP ED First Issued YesterdayLaw On Scratching Time first of the official ballots of the county of Sat Lake was printed yesterday will keep run terda and the presses wi ning from this time until the consIgnment ment is complete The rooster occupies occu-pies his old place at the head of the Democratic ticket and the motto Mark on X up by the roster and let It go at that Is again the motto of the Democracy The marking of an X up by the rooter roo-ter and making no other marks on the ticket Is really the only proper manner man-ner of voting Still there are many votng member of the other parties who desire de-sire to vote for candidates on the Democratic Dem-ocratic ticket The lav governing this point reads as follows pint Any voter desirlngo rote for an the S4 candidate upon any ticket may mark in the circle abc that ticket the names thc opposite or in squares opposie naes of all candidates thereon or both such markings If the voter does not desire I to vote for a candidate on a ticket the circle of which he has marked he may draw a line through the name of such candidate and thc cross in the circle shan count a a vote for all of the other candidates on thc ticket To vote for candidates on two or more tickets he may mark in the squares opposite the names of such candidate without marking in the circle above one ticket drawing a line through thc names of such candidates on that tIcket for whom he doe net desire to vote and marking in the square opposite the Dames of the candidates of his choice upon ether tickets The voter may also Insert In writing in the proper place In the blank ticket the name of any person per-son for whom he desires to vote and shan be deemed to have voted for that perr whether he makes or fails to make a cross mark opposite such name The unnecessary marking of a cross in a square on the ticket below the squar marked circle shall not affect the validity valid-ity of the vote SIS Ballots thus marked shall be counted for the candidates designated by the marks in the squares and for the candidates upon the ticket beneath a marked circle excluding the candidates candi-dates through whose names the voter may have drawn a lies When a circle is marked and no lines are drawn through the name of any candidate thereunder the ballot shall be counted i for all the names upon the ticket beneath be-neath such circle When mbre than one circle is marked the ballot shan be rejected re-jected Thus it will be seen that the voter has the right to mark an X over the ticket he intends to vote and then he may scratch the name of any candidate on that ticket and vote for a ron on any other ticket or write a name on the proper column in the bank ticket But two circles should never be scratched as that Invalidates the 0 I When there are two or more OfN such as count commlssoners to 1e elected and the voter votes fer mo ethan e-than three the ballot 01 that portion of the ticket is void and the vote wi1 I not be counted The Taw adds that In voting for one omce If the voter yotng marks in squares opposite the name of I more than one candidate therefor or f having malted the circle of one ticket he shan mark the name of a candidate on another ticket without drawing a line through the name of the corresponding corre-sponding candidate upon the ticket beneath be-neath the marked circle such vote shall not be counted for sd office That Is to say A Republican wishes to vote his ticket with the exception of county clerk He desires to vote for Mr Dunbar The proper manner Is to draw a line through the name of Mr Graham place a cross opposite the name of 2Ir Dunbar and the cross underneath un-derneath the eagle The safe plan however Is to marIe an X up by the rooster and let It go at that |
