Show A PIONEER OF 47 Death of Mrs Cherry I Davis County Setter Special to The Herald Centervle Utah Oct 24Magnret Yelon Cherry wife of Aaron B Cherry Cher-ry one of the pioneers of 18H and an early setter of Davis county passe away at her home In Centenle on l Oct Ii at 4 p m surrounded by the most of her family and relatIves She died in the house where she had lived I I g aJ half l a century it being et first adobe I house built on David creek in Center villa She was the kind and loving mother of nine children the youngest a son Jcseph S Chbrr born in the Black His In ISH on their journey to Salt Lake She reared all her family fam-ily to manhood and womanhood Jesse Y Cherry died on his mission in England Eng-land in 1864 and frs CherYs husband died the same year She lived to I good old age being in her eightyeighth year and had beer a widow for 4 years She had ben confined to her a1ji I 1rrs Ixlargaret Yelton Cherry bed since New Years day Her af Ucton was not very painful but she continued to grow weaker until the end came During her long illness she was never heard to murmur or complain but bore her misfortune with great ChristIan fortitude until she was lit eraly worn out and passed away like one in a quiet sleep Deceased was born In Pendleton county Kentucky Feb 1 181 and I was married to Aaron D Cherry In 1829 They moved to Adams county Illinois In 181 where they took a farm They visited Xauvo during a Moron I conference heard the Prophet Joseph Smith preach became converted to the I truth of the gospel joined the church and she ever afterwards remaine a true and faithful member of the church At the exodus of the Saints from NauvoQ they left their home and arrived in Sat Lake City on Oct 3 18i The fall of 184 they moved to Centenie which has been Ir Cherrs home ever since Five of her living children married and settled In Centenie She had seven lYlng chi drn 50 grndchldren 73 great grandchildren grand-children and four great great grandchildren grand-children to comfort her in her declining year She was a person of a qUiet and peaceful friends disposition rarely visiting her Jne IUnera services were held at the meeting house in Centervle The speakers were Elder Parrish John Seaman and Elder Randall Elder Seaman Sea-man delivered a very touching discourse dis-course wihch was comforting to her family relatives and friends She WM lad to rest on the 191 |
