Show rliE FAULKNER AMENDMENT It Will be Introduced in the Seate Today f To-day WASHINGTON Sept 13 Faulkner will introduce in the Senate his amendment amend-ment to the Sherman repeal bill tomorrow It will provide for the monthly coinage of fOOO of silver till the aggregate circulation cir-culation ofjsilver reaches 800000000 and will call for the retirement of all bills under S un-der the 30 denomination J Faulkner said lie ha not Canvassed the U o Senate upon the amendment and was not prepared to say whether it would command com-mand sufficient vote to secure its acceptance accept-ance However he had received many answers of good will towards the principles princi-ples suggested by the amendment from members who express a willingness to support it in case it is satisfactory in detail I is believed the great bulk of the silver advocates Republicans and Democrats alike will support the measure when thfcy find it impossible to get anything more favorable favor-able Many repeal advocates representing repre-senting the conservative element of that side will probably cast votes for the amendment by giving silver the limited recognition proposed I is definitely known also that the influence of the administration will be exerted in opposition opposi-tion to this and other compromises Whether the amendment will be able to secure a majority vote despite this position posi-tion can only be ascertained by a canvass of the Senate and possibly a vote IS is not expected theamendment when introduced intro-duced will be taken up immediately |
