| Show THE UTAH SCOTS They Will Gather with the Clans at the Worlds Fair Actiou Taken at the Territorial Caledonian Cale-donian Convention Last Evening 3Iany Delegates Wore Present The Scots of Utah will participate in the grand gathering of the clans at Chicago in July At the territorial Caledonian convention held In the Wasatch building last evening an association was formed to perfect arrangements for a Worlds fair excursion Fifty or sixty delegates were In attendance attend-ance from the various counties of the territory ter-ritory James Moifatt of this city was elected president Dr J S Gordon of Ogden vice president John Hutchinson of Ogden Og-den secretary Dr McFaddan Salt Lake assistant secretary J G Watson Park City treasurer After the preliminary business was disposed dis-posed of the following resolution was unanimously adopted Resolved That this convention send to Chicago Chi-cago representatives to meet with our Scottish brothers of that city In due respect to their kind invitation to the Scots of this terrtory to join them in the great and grand gatLtrtng of Scottish people now scattered all over the globe but who in July 1893 will meet in Chi cairo and will hold exercises and all the Scottish Scot-tish games characteristic of the nation Speeches were made by Chief Scott of Ogden A Shields of Tooelo and David Itfeilsoii After the business of the meeting meet-ing was over songs and recitations followed fol-lowed and all uassed a very pleasant evening ev-ening UD to the wee sma hours ayont the tval and the bagpipes were heard skurling in the streets in the middle o the nicht All Scots throughout the territory are urged to interest themselves in this matter mat-ter The delegates in attendance last evening will aSfr aiii the number who will go to Chicago from their respective counties and report to the secretary and I arrangements will then be made for an excursion The Utah Scots will offer a souvenir prize of Utah silver to be contested con-tested for at the Worlds fair games |
