| Show THE EVIDENCE The crowds on the streetsvisitors from every county city and town in Utah and the fact that all these people seem content with life and happy as such things go tell a very agreeable story of the season now drawing close From all over the republic re-public come tales of industrial depression of a scarcity of money and dull times This has been an unusually severe year especially on those who toil and these include in-clude farmers mechanics and day laborers and of course Utah has suffered more or less from the gen ral depression but he thousands of guests now sojourn ng with us tell in their contented faces and in the air of prosperity which they wear that the prevalent dullness of which we hoar so much complaint has borne less heavily upon Utah than on other sections of the country We believe the people of this territory have had a more than ordinarily prosperous season notwithstanding the depression in a few places and in some instances in-stances If this were not so the visitors to the Mormon conference and the territorial fair would not be so numerous as they are and those coming would bavo less money to spend in the city |
