Show AN EVENING WITH POETS A Fine and Well Chosen Programme Delightfully De-lightfully Rendered The audience that greeted Mrs Anna D Thrall last evening at the Congregational Congrega-tional Sunday school on the occasion of her talk on Modern Verse and the Authors of It was large and appreciative apprecia-tive She showed much versatility her humorous I hu-morous selections were charming and her pathos touching She was especially happy in ner German dialect bursts of applause following this rendition A sketch of each author was short and well given Richard Henry Stoddard claimed her attention first and his There Are Gains For All Our Losses was esoecially fitting for this occasion occasionwas another selection T Bailey Aldrich followed several being chosen from his pen James Whitcomb Rileys On the Banks of Deer Crick was next given Der Leedle Boy The Passing of a Heart Scattering Remarks of Bub came next Mrs Thrall paid a delightful tribute to Helen Hunt butgave no selection A couple of Eugene Field well known poems were also recited Sleep song from Lucy Larcom closed a most delightful evenings entertainment enter-tainment Much hand shaking followed and many a God speed was earnestly said |
