Show TIle Sheep Mens Error We hear numerous reports and complaints com-plaints of great losses in sheep during the month of April in consequence of the unusual inclemency of the weather If it was cola damp and bleak down in the valleys what must it have been in the upper lands on mountain ranges and places where sheep had been gathered in for shearing It will be found we believe on inquiry that a large number of sheep have perished per-ished through premature shearing THE HERALD warned flockmasters against this several weeks ago Some of them perhaps per-haps do not read THE HERALD others who do smiled superior and thought they knew as much about sheep as any city newspaper did and so went ahead with their clipping What is the result Why heavy losses and great chagrin It is cruel to the sheep to deprive them of their fleeces at a time when sudden storms are probable and it is very poor policy into the bargain There is too much hurry torget the wool into market and the very haste which sometimes occasions such losses as we hear of from many quarters helps to run down the wool market and defeats the very object had in view in the rush Better not be in too great a hurry now sheep menl Anti while you are about it make your fleqces as clean as possible so that Utah wool may take a higher grade in the market lists and bring you fairer prices A reform is needed in this as well as in the time for shearing |
