Show THE UTAH MAJfUFACTTJKKBS i Fifteen Directors Elected The Homo Industry In-dustry Mass Meeting The Utah Manufacturers exchange met at the chamber of commerce rooms last evening with President Elias Morris presiding I The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved and business was proceeded with as follows i The committee appointed at the last meeting to select nine names from the roll of membership to be presented and voted i upon as a board of directors reported a follows I folows I We your committee appointed to ser se-r lect nine names to be presented to this meeting to be voted for as a board of directors I di-rectors beg to say That your committee find it very difficult I diffi-cult to find nine for this cul fnd only names purpose pur-pose so many interests and manufactories manufac-tories being represented among our I membership as to make it difficult to choose We therefore suggest that the rule providing for a board of nine members mem-bers be changed to read fifteen members and that five members of such board be qualified to transact the business of the exehanee The report was adopted and bylaws amended to conform with the same and the committee reported the fifteen names as follows Elias Morris tile marble and sugar I W H Rowe boots and shoes etc George Arbogast confectionery Jacob Moritz brewery A M Grant machinery W J Tuddenham brick Sam Levy cigars Jos E Taylor caskets John C Cutler woolen goods Henry Wallace cracker factory F W Gardiner lithographing etc D L Rosa clothing H Dinwoodey furniture H F Kincaid soaps Philip Neder carriages and wagons The report was received and the committee com-mittee discharged Mr Gardiner moved that the secretary be instructed to cast the ballots of nil members present for the fifteen gentlemen named The motion was carried and Secretary Cutler announced that the directory as placed in nomination was elected by a unanimous vote President Morris reported that he had talked to prominent members of the chamber of commerce and they had assured I as-sured him that they would assist the exchange ex-change in every way possible and hoped that the latter would receprocate Mr Morris also stated that the chamber had asked him to appoint a committee of three to act with a like committee from the chamber of commerce and business mens association the purpose of arranging for a mass meeting to consider the matter of patronizing home industries The president called attention to the needs of a place where the members of the exchange ex-change might exhibit their handiwork and the chamber of commerce had assured him that their aid might be relied upon I was moved and carried that a vote of thanks be tendered to President W E Hubbard and the board of directors of the chamber of commerce for the assistance which they have rendered to the exchauge I since the organization was first proposed pro-posed Mr Ross moved that the president of the chamber of commerce should always be honary members of exchange while they occupied said official position Carried Car-ried riedThe The president appointed a committee of three to act in conjunction with a like committee from the chamber of commerce and Business Mens association perfect arrangements for the mass meeting which will be called for the purpose of talking home industry The gentlemen appointed ap-pointed were 1 W Gardiner W J Tuddenham and H Wallace Mr Gardiner moved that the rules constitution con-stitution and bylaws as previously read and amended be adopted Carried The secretary was instructed to notify the board of directors that a meeting would be held on Thursday evening at which time the officers of the exchange I will Adjourned be elected for one week |
