Show I THE GOVERNMENT DEFEATED The Supreme Court Renders an Opinion In tho Arizona Wire Fence Case WASHINGTON March 27The United States was defeated in the Supreme Court today in an effort to secure the remove of the barbed wire fence case originally installed in the First judicial district of Arizona the United States alleging that Colin Campbell enclosed en-closed 800 acres of public land without color of title thereto and asking an order for removal The plaintiff was successful and Campbell came to the Supreme Court for relief Justice Brown delivered an opinion of the court reversing the judgment of the supreme court of the territory This upon the ground that Campbells claim was under the Mexican grant of foursquare four-square leagues of land which by some unknown un-known means was changed into four leagues square in survey constituted a color of title which removed the land in question from the public domain of the United States and therefore exempted it from the law governing the removal of I I the offenses |
