Show THE SANTA E1C TROUBLE Officials Hold That the itrlfce on Their Line was Unauthorized TOPEKA Oct 17General Manager Robinson of the Santa Fe road says the strike was ordered under a misapprehension misapprehen-sion Grand Chief Ramsey did not order our men out I have traced the matter down and find that the order for the strike came from Dodge city and that an operator by the name of Johnson wrote It and signed Ramseys name to it He only intended it as a joke and when the men learn this they will return to work The men here do not credit Robinsois statement state-ment The Santa Fe officials also contend that the order for strike on the Gulf Colorado Santa Fe was not made by Ramsey but by his assistant Tobey who claims authority to sign Ramseys name Another dispatch has been received from Grand Master Ramsey ordering that no work be done or tickets sold on the entire Santa Fo system The Santa Fe officials show the dispatch alleged to be a statement from the operator at Dodge City saying that he sent a message signed Ramsey and ordering the strike as a joke but the men do not believe and will refuse to return to work till ordered by Ramsay The men declare that 300 operators on the St Louis and San Francisco and five hundred on the Atlantic and Pacific will strike unless the Snnta Fe comes to time |
