Show THE SITUATION AT LEADV1LLB Not a Wheel Turning on the Denver Bio Grande DENVER Colo Oct 17fSpaoal telegram tele-gram to THE HERALD Not a wheel is moving on the Rio Grande The usual orders were given this morning by the superintendent to run the trains but no attention was paid to them The Brotherhood Brother-hood held a secret meeting last night but it is impossible to learn what they did except ex-cept that they decided not to allow the Colorado Midland engineers to handle coke oil and other cars for the Leadville smelters as they were requested to do by the mine managers At the Rio Grande yards everything is quiet The men are orderly and fsel confident that their demands i de-mands will be acceded to The strike is becoming serious to the mine and smelter managers as all supplies i of oil coke are running short and 1 the I strike Is not soon settled i will force a stoppage of work which will cause thousands thou-sands of dollars damage The report current that the Midland trains are to be stopped is not true as every car that wan received is moving Th strikers here stato that the road would not be interfered with unless they attempt to handle Rio Grande business There is mail delayed between here and Denver as Saturdays papers have not arrived ar-rived at 2 oclock this afternoon There is a general howl coming from Redcliff and Gilman as no malls have been received there since Friday |
