The mayor said traffic is also a problem. THE DAVIS County Commission Com-mission two weeks ago came out in support of Mr. Fadel's plans, but, due to an incomplete incom-plete set of ordinances regarding regard-ing mobile homes and mobile home parks, were unable to confirm or deny development blueprints. Representatives of the county plannig commission have been asked to review the existing ordinances and report back to the county commission and make recommendations. BUT, WITHOUT West Bountiful's support and annexation, anne-xation, the proposed park would be without a number of municipal services, including fire protection. Mayor Secrist said in lieu of recent controversy over the park, the city council will likely like-ly discuss the issue again. "DECISIONS ARE always subject to change," the mayor said. By MARK D. MICKELSEN WEST BOUNTIFUL West Bountiful Mayor Grant Secrist says the city council recently re-cently opposed development of a 200-unit mobile home park near the city limits because plans for the subdivision were unsuitable to the community's master plan. PLANS FOR a 30-acre mobile home village between Page's and Porter's Lane w ere sidetracked earlier this year when West Bountiful officials voted against annexing the property into the city. "West Bountiful, in general, is a rural area. It always has been," Mayor Secrist said. "The people who move out here move out here to get some room." HE SAID THE community's master plan reflects that "rural" "ru-ral" atmosphere and has been the "biggest influencing factor" fac-tor" in the city council's decision. But developer George Fadel, who feels the multi-unit park will offset high mortgage costs and allow younger couples cou-ples to get into homes, continues con-tinues to pursue the annexation annexa-tion issue. RESPONDING TO charges leveled by Fadel that West Bountiful and a number of south Davis communities feel there is no more room for mobile home park development develop-ment Mayor Secrist denied that the council opposed the plans because the development develop-ment concerns mobile homes. The city is host to three or four mobile home parks, already, the mayor said. But, the location of the new park, between Page's and Porter's Lane is not the type of development de-velopment suitable to West Bountiful's master plan, he added. "IT WAS discussed quite thoroughly and that was the decision they (council) came up with." |
