Show Centerville Looks At Subdivision By GARY R. BLODGETT CENTERVILLE - Pitford Acres Subdivision is in the news again. And again the news is not good. CENTERVILLE City Council Coun-cil decided last Tuesday night that "we have fooled around with these people long enough" and then voted to take legal action if improvements improve-ments are not made immediately. immedi-ately. City Manager Kennr Kil-pack, Kil-pack, Mayor Golden Allen and Councilmen Robert Arbuckle, Norman Wright and Dennis Knoles expressed "concern and disappointment" that developers de-velopers of the partially developed de-veloped subdivision have not taken care of several improvements. "PROMISES, PROMISES is all we get from these people," peo-ple," said Mayor Allen. "We stopped development there two years ago and the developer develop-er (Dick Cutler) said he would get the job done immediately. Since then, we have had nothing no-thing but one broken promise after another." Mr. Kilpack said he, too, had talked to Mr. Cutler and was told by the developer that he wanted to complete the job. "But we still have some of the same old problems, as well asi some new problems existing there." "WE HAVE instructed our city attorney to contact the developers de-velopers and the loaning institution insti-tution concerned and advise them that if things are not improved im-proved immediately there will be court action to secure the remaining undeveloped lots." Mr. Kilpack said there are two or three undeveloped lots in the subdivision that the city will attach if improvements are not completed immediately. HE CITED some of the improvements im-provements as being storm drain water, unpaved road, fire hydrants not installed, and curb, gutter and sidewalk repairs. re-pairs. The controversial matter was brought to light again last Tuesday when Eva Hancock told the council that a water pipe has broken for a second time which is backing under a sidewalk near her home. "IT'S BEEN three years and the subdivision is not yet completed," com-pleted," said Ms. Hancock, who is also a member of the Centerville Planning and Zoning Commission. "I think it's a disgrace to have this drag on so long." Mr. Kilpack emphasized that Gene Childs, local contractor, con-tractor, has been available to complete the project for the past few months but can not get an agreement (from the developers) de-velopers) to do the work. |
