fraternal society world during the week just closed I All the orders quietly pursued tho even tenor of their ways and nil did a fair amount of work MASONIC The blue lodges did good work and held tbeir regular sessions and also extra meetings meet-ings l for special work On Friday night WJsatch lodge worked the Master Mason degree Grand Ivlaster Shilling was present pres-ent and also a goodly number of the members mem-bers of Argenta and Mount Moriah lodges The higher branches of the order have Had a quiet time since the Mystic Shriners held a special session last week at which some I twenty novices were guided over the sandy way amidst a full attendance of the nobles The camels wore all in good shape and the trip was very successfully accomplished ioor All the lodges held their usual meetings and initiated a goodly number of candi dates into tho mysteries of the order On Monday evening Jordan lodge held its regular meeting and conferred the third decree on three applicants Unity encampment had an excellent meeting on Tuesday evening The second and third degrees were conferred on four brethren and a good deal of routine business busi-ness was done There was a very large attendance and a truly fraternal time was enjoyed On Wednesday evening Enterprise lodge met There was no degree work but the usual routine business occupied the time of the session Some very entertaining speeches were made under the head of good of the order and as is usual with this lodge all bad a very enjoyable time Utah lodge No1 on Thursday conferred the third degree on two candidates and transacted the usual routine business On Friday both Salt Luke and Fidelity lodges met and reported very good and Interest ing sessions Nsomi Rebekah degree lodge held its usual meeting on Saturday and conferred the degree of the ordor on three candidates The ladies wale out in full force and the work ner was done In 0 most creditable man KNIGHTS OP PYTHIAS Calanthe lodge met on Monday evening and transacted the regular routine business busi-ness essOn Tuesday Myrtle lodge as usual bad a fine meeting There was no degree work but several applications for membership member-ship were received and placed on tho table to be dealt with in due course The members of Rocky Mountain lodge are justly proud of the progress tney aro making At the meeting on Thursday evening seven applications for membership member-ship were received There was a fine attendance at-tendance and all had a very enjoyable at The Uniform Rank for the past two weeks have held their drills in the open air The change is a good one and is very much enjoyed by the Knights The Westem KniuM a journal published at Ogden by C J Pettee and devoted to the interests of the order is being formed into a stocb company The capital stock is 5000 divided into 5000 shares of fl l each Brother John P Meakin is working the Salt Lake end of the business and reports that the shares are being rapidly taken up by the brethren ANCIENT nSSENIC ORDER This order grows apace New members ard being constantly added and life and vigor is very apparent Oriental Senate met on Monday and admitted ten new members Several vioiting brethren wera present amongst whom were Earl D Gray and H H Van clieve The former greatly added to the evenings enjoyment by reciting in a masterly manner 0 piece entitled Wounded and tho lattervery acceptably rendered Our Folks Oriental and Fi tidily senates have arranged to Rive a joint picnio to Calders Park on Juno 2 ay Arrangements have been made whereby all wi have a good time and this is expected ex-pected to be the beginning of 1 number of similar excursions during the summer Brothers Meaken and Hall went to Provo on Thursday in the Interest of the order and expect to organize a senate there be fore they return Good reports come from Park City and also from points outside this territory Organizer Or-ganizer Colonel E C Race reports forty one new members as the result of ono weeks work at Dixon l r o s OF A The camps are all working vigorously Camp No 2 had a very pleasant meeting on Tuesday evening and after the regular routine business a most interesting paper was read by Colonel J H as Cololel Watts and an essay by Prof F W Dennis which were greatly anpreclated Camp No 5 on Monday evening had a discussion on the silver question and tomorrow to-morrow night will debate on the question of free trade vs high tariff Queston On Thursday next Camp No6 will give a free literary entertainment at their hall in the Union block The regular hal business will come on first after whicn toe public will be admitted A good publo wi pro gramme Is heing prepared and all are invited in-vited to attend Martha Washington camp P O D A have changed thjir night of meeting to Wednesday The last meeting concluded with an impromptu dance and the meeting next Wednesday will bo of meatng wi a literary character and on the following Wednes day there wilj be a dance to which friends of the members are invited These meet tugs are growing in favor and are very en joyablo STAR OF BETHLEHEM Mizpah lodge is making great prepress and almost nightly adding now names to the roster The last two meetings were lull of interest and were prolonged to a late hour each evening 1 A treat is in store for next Monday will be devoted outside of tho usual business to songs recitations and readings etc A lengthy programme is prepared and all are requested if possible to attend In addition the degree of the Eastern Star will be conferred on those entitled to I receive it SONS OF ST GEORGE The Sons of St Georgo held their regu lar meeting which was well VIS attended meetng wel two more now members being initiated and made Sons of St George W C Kemp and 1 Robert Eite
