Show Tha Missouri Pacific and Great Northern Alliance OMAHA Neb May 2SSvecial telegram to Too HERALD There is a rumor among those who are in the inside that Mr S H H Clarks trip to the west to meet Jay Gould is for no other purpose than to effect an alliance between the Missouri Pacific L Groat Northern By the aid of tho Sioux City Si Northern tho Great Northern controls con-trols 4000 miles of road and it had long been tho > ambition of James Hill the president presi-dent for the Great Northern to get to Omaha I is known that overtures have been made to the Missouri Pacific to join in the enterprise of building a line of road from Sioux City to Omaha This sort of a deal would not only give the Great Northern an entrance into Omaha but would carry with it an invaluable ali ance The one road has a great network of lines in the south and southwest and the other spreads over the north and northwest north-west in a similar manner At no other point would the two systems come in contact con-tact and there would be no conflicting interests in-terests to prevent a strong friendly alliance alli-ance With tho Nebraska Central in the field and with a new bridge over the Missouri Miss-ouri at Omaha the latter would give the Great Northern terminal facilities here There is every reason for believing that Mr Clark is favorable to the scheme of uniting the two systems |
